I usually unclick firefox, recycle bin, and menu order cache, as i can manage those myself (put all my programs in alphabetical order manually; yeah, i hav a lot of free tiem). All the other stuff, I let ccleaner take care of. I don't think ccleaner deletes imp. files; only temporary/unused ones, so delete away.

I agree with supra.skyline.gtr.nismo.imprezza.ae86.rx7
that you can uncheck the firefox and recycle bin prior to running the scan. Other than that, you can delete all the other temp files and logs unless you see one that you really want e.g. recently opened documents
-
I just delete everything.
I am too lazy to uncheck the items. Plus I can really tell a speed improvement when I use crapcleaner.
Enjoy,
Tim -
I just leave mine on default settings and delete everything. s

I use the default setting also. Only thing is, on those websites that you subscribe to, you have to re-enter your user name and password afterwards. Also if, in IE, you like to use the drop down list to see your previously sites and to re-select one again, all those will be gone.
-
If you use roboform ( http://www.roboform.com) you won't care about having to re-enter usernames and passwords. Plus you'll be a lot more secure with your passwords.
-
I use roboform portable and I have all my passwords stored on my USB flash drive. That is very convenient.

I just installed and ran ccleaner and deleted 408 register entries. Mostly from all uninstalled programs. One of these days I'll end up tweaking this thing to death!

I add several custom folders; both in inclusions and exclusions.

Wow, this is a great program, I don't know why it took me so long to install it. Thanks for the tips guys.

after reading this thread, i decided to DL it and run it and it deleted 1.something MB of stuff...when i did it, i noticed a lot of old stuff that i uninstalled a while back (norton stuff, WoW stuff, limewire stuff, etc) that i guess didn't get deleted...cool! -

What about the registry cleaner settings in CCleaner ?
-
clean everything, ccleaner doesn't delete important keys... no need to be scared

It did clean some important keys I guess...
Few problems I face after Ccleaner regisrty cleaning are things like lost file associations, MS office apps showing the 'installing' thing before opening,....
So I don't think its a good idea to check all in the registry cleaning -
I've NEVER had any problems with Ccleaner ?
-
-
For the Registry part, I use the default settings - never had a problem doing that.

How is CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner.....it claims to have support for x64
-
Will it's registry cleaning part work fine with Windows Vista x64?
-
I am not using ccleaner. Once it deleted some important uninstall info for some programs. Always do a registry backup before deleting them all.
