    Hi

my notebook was partitioned from a while. i recongnise it was not done by a professional but i had no idea about it myself. anyway now when i turn it on i have to choose between windows Me and Win xp. then everithing looks to proceed normally. the C drive cooresponds for the win Me and the D for the xp. however here is the problem: i cant read any CD from the xp OS. when i log in Me it works fine. but in xp nothing. it's as if i didn't insert a CD (although i hear it spinning but that's it). the problem is obviously not a harware problem.
    any suggestions?
    thx

First off I would re-install XP and get rid of thsoe partitions. To resolve this issue though, you probably just need to install teh CD drive drivers on the XP boot.

It will be, well, the screwed XP that does not allow you to read the cds. You can just do what brian asked you to do, and i don't think you need to install the drivers manually because it should and will be included. i was faced with several of this problems and a reformat worked fine.
