My school runs Cisco Clean Access Agent for it's Network.
It's always worked for me, but one day it logged me off and said I needed to update my Operating System with WINDOWS UPDATE.
I did the EXPRESS option and installed everything, restarted. And still CISCO did not let me on the network. It said I still needed Windows Updates.
I went back to it. and there was nothing to install.
I tried EXPRESS And Custom and there are none more to install.
I went to TECH support Twice and they were NO help whats so ever.
HELP!!!

Cisco sucks. I have to deal with it too. I don't really know how to fix your problem, but I have a few suggestions...
-make sure antivirus is up to date
-try un-installing and re-installing cisco
-take it back to tech support and try asking someone else, get the best person there (I have taken mine to the tech services at my school, got no help from one guy, asked another who fixed it in 5 seconds)
-if all else fails, and you really need to get on the internet, Linux can get online without using Cisco. You could install it if you wanted (maybe dualboot) or just run it off the live-cd to use the internet
goodluck -
My Virus Protection says OUT OF DATE.
but how am I supposed to update that? -
I dunno, what kind of antivirus software do you have? Look around for an update button.
-
Windows Security Center in the right hand corner.
it just says out of date.
no update.. -
if you update your virus software and it still happens, then uninstall cisco and reinstall from a download link or however your school distributes it. cisco will often times not update itself and goes crazy. ive discovered alot of cisco issued are solved by taking a few minutes and reinstalling it. also another common fix is making sure your antivirus is set to automatic update. cisco sucks but alot of schools seems to like it so its here to stay. if you are using vista, there are many flaws with clean access and vista. i can not sleep or hibernate because cisco does not "wake up" or come out of hibernate mode so its like its not even running and i have to reboot. good luck.
EDIT: ive never used windows security but open it up and look around. theres got to be a update section for virus definitions. -
yeah.. thats what they tried at the tech building..
reinstalling it.. to no provail.
there doesn't seem to be any update for my virus thing -
I was just hoping this was a common problem. so people could help me but I guess something isn't right.
I download what it tells me to get... Windows Updates... but it doesn't allow me on. -
its weird that it says to update windows, but its your antivirus thats out of date. when your antivirus is out of date windows security center detects it and tells you to update it. what antivirus are you using? windows security center is a windows tool to keep you notified of certain things, but that i know of it doesnt have its own antivirus. do you have norton, mcafee, sophos, avast, avg, panda, kaspersky?

may be helpful. sounds like you need to manually install a certain update or reinstall windows to completely fix the issue
EDIT: scan for virus too -
sounds like the NAC has spotted your av defs out of date.
connect to the internet at home and update your virus defs then try again and hopefuly you wont get quarantined this time.
NAC is so painful sometimes. -
when it tells you that you need to update, is it giving you temporary access to the internet for 60 or 90 minutes? generally cisco is setup to alot so much down so you can download what you need.

I have Symantec Anti-Virus. It is required for use of Cisco here.
I updated it.... it had an update. restarted..
and still the same stupid You must update Windows Update.
and nothing is there to update.
I read that colypony website and I really don't want to reformat just because Cisco is stupid
