Literally every single time I go to hibernate my laptop (Dell e6400 Latitude), theres an exclamation point there telling me to shut the system down and allow it to download updates.
Granted I ust upgraded to Office 2010 about a week ago but this is getting a little nuts.
Is this normal or is there something wrong here?

This may sounds like a stupid question, but have you actually shut down/restarted your computer completely since this first appeared? Hibernating doesn't allow updates that require a reboot to install since it doesn't actually end your session.
If that isn't it, trying running the Windows Update program and letting it install everything and reboot. -
The problem seems to be some random update for Powerpoint 2007.
The thing is, I just installed office 2010, so there is no need for this update. For some reason my system is not registering this and is giving me an error as the update wont "take". I guess I can just ignore the update? -
I'd say so. I've seen Windows Update get stupid in a few of those cases. "You need this, but you don't meet the requirements since you don't actually have the product this patches for"
Go Microsoft! -
If the update keeps failing, then uncheck it and continue so it can be hidden. I've dealt with IE6 updates being downloaded on a fresh computer after IE8 was installed.

Ive unchecked it/ignored it, but that darn exclamation point is still there when I go to shut down or hibernate.
How do I get rid of that notification permanently, without affecting potential future notifications? -
Try uninstalling Office 2010 and then reinstalling
CONSTANT updates since upgrading to Office 2010?
