hi.. my cpu seems to be running hotter than usual. i wanted to knw wat the average cpu temps were.. at idle and when only one application is actively running (for me its utorrent..)..
also i am using rm clock to monitor my cpu temps.. wen rm clock is running while playin games, very often my comp jus shuts down! is this becoz the cpu overheated?? the gpu temps were at 82 avg so i knw its not the gpu. can rm clock shut down down my comp like that?? the comp dosen't shut down wen rm lock isn't running in the backgrd while playing games(CoD4 etc).. any help please.. :)

P.S: if there's a thread already addressing this then pls direct me to it.. thanx :)

try a different program to monitor temps....such as core temp, HWmonitor.

CPU temperatures normally range between about 50C (light usage) and 80 to 90C (heavy usage), but depending on the design of and effectiveness of the cooling system. Recent CPUs should automatically throttle their speed to keep within the thermal ceiling (around 100C).

Can you confirm that you are only using RMClock to monitor the temperatures and you have not changed the voltages?

Important to know, AMD or Intel? AMD run hotter. Regardless of what has been said, if notebook is shutting down? Not good, as John said the CPU should be able to deal with. Have you cleaned the insides, no dust no blocking of the vents? Some would tell you try a different app to monitor temp. Good first suggestion but you have symptoms so I need less of that kind of info. If what I have suggested does not help you likely have a serious issue. Mobo replacement would be the first very expensive step. Try and do all (as suggested to lower temps) if lower temps solve problem good. If running apps cause it then don't run them. RMClock (can) do more than just monitor. I suspect you are changing settings. Stop running it and do you have the same problem? If not? There is your answer.

If your just want your temperatures use HWMonitor. You probably have changed settings on RMclock by accident.
