How can I check the temp of my comp on windows XP, do I need a special program? Thanks

you can use the mobile meter on some notebooks:

rmclock works good

You can use NHC (Notebook Hardware Control), which gives you alot of other options as well, or you can use Speedfan.
-
i second NHC.
-
I also suggest NHC.

You could try Everest Home edition even though they dont support it anymore try googling it...I still use it =) tells you CPU, Mobo Temp, and fan speed.

I agree with everyone else, as I use NHC as well. Or you could use speedfan. That will let you control your fan speeds as well as tell you your cpu temps.

RMClock is pretty good, I am using it right now.

Question for the people recommending NHC: What is the brand, model, and CPU of your notebook? I have a Toshiba M105 with Core Solo, and NHC does not report CPU temp. I think it says something about ACPI not being installed.
The only program I've found that works on my machine is CoreTemp. Look here:

chumley, have you tried the Intel TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool). It should bring the temperature up of the processor. It also shows on the ACPI thermal zone.

lol look at when this was posted -
