    Hi guys,

I'm currently using coretemp to monitor my CPU activity and temperatures. It works fine for me, but I occasionally accidentally close the utility or the graphing plug in, and having to reopen them is a minor hassle.

I wonder if anyone knows of software that will turn the desktop background into a readout screen for CPU activity/temperature? So that everything is written to the desktop itself, not a window, meaning I can't accidentally close it.

There are also a few gadgets that will do this. There is one by he creator of GPU observer iirc and HWiNFO also has one, but the program has to be running as well.

Desktop Info is a great lightweight yet feature-packed tool that I use, similar to Conky in Linux.

/Drakk_ I use HWINFO64 (as Tijo suggests) but set it to display temps in Systray (via configure button from Sensor Status window).
the associated gadget is a bit stark IMO (but can be found in C:\Program Files\HWiNFO64)
