Cool! I don't tend to upgrade my software all that much, so I think I'll just keep my CS3 :)

Man that content aware feature is going to save me time and going to make a lazier Photoshop user out of me.

I just saw the video again and noticed that in the last picture, the panorama, it looks like it may have added what maybe a bird. Kind of makes me wonder is content aware fill that good, or is this some how faked(?).

Well, I generally just use Camera RAW on my photos - simply because I'm too lazy to learn how to use Photoshop....
(and not that it matters anyway...)

    Basically:
For real photographs - do as little editing as possible.

    For artwork:
Do as much as you like.

    Edit:
Dear me... I didn't look at the videos on the site...

But looking at the one you picked out... that will make me envious...

But the thing is, I don't want to spend 150 off Pounds on Photoshop (Acedemic price) again if I have a working CS4 - guess I just have to make sure I take my photographs well ;)

On a side note - a comment that I got from a person we know in Scotland who won some awards for his aircraft shots (Scotland can be a good place for that) asked the simple question:
"If you touch up a bad image to be good, think what you can do to a good image" ;) CS5 will make you lazy because you can fix anything...

And if you are lazy like me -the original image needs to be pretty close to what I finally want.

I have been a field tester for CS5 for 9 months now. It is pretty damned good, not just in terms of the individual apps but the integration between apps.

I will be buying it. Adobe products can be bought via academic pricing for approx 25% of list.

Academic pricing is actually more around 20% ;) or was last year at Easter.

Still expensive and not worth the upgrade for me...

You don't have to buy the whole CS if you don't need it. And I did use the word approx in terms of the academic discount (which varies depending what region you live in).

I've seen PS4 at the academic shops for around U$200- And there are 5 or so difference CS collections at various price points.

For me, the vastly improved integration between apps including Bridge is worth the price.

    For me.

Here is a generic web link, please let me know if it's not working and I'll add my personal field tester link. I'd rather not do that as we have more than enough people here who self-promote their RS, etc links (distasteful and tacky).

    Anyway, try this:

    http://cs5launch.adobe.com/

To register, you MUST have an Adobe Live ID, Adobe customer service account ID, or a pre/beta tester ID account. The first one is easy to get and there should be instructions on the CS5 launch link.

You're also going to have to have the latest flash player installed. 10.0.xxx and 10.1 beta both work fine.

Unofficially the rumor among field testers is that Adobe might, MIGHT, be giving away a few licenses of CS5 Premium to people who attend the entire web launch party. Unofficially of course.

    Have fun!

Ok, I'm getting sick of all these Adobe CS5 threads, I've read THREE different ones, can we merge them or something?

agreed, but it's up to the mods to merge things.

it also depends an awful lot on the ability and willingness of the readers here to search for topics and subjects. That 'skill' seems to be lacking across the board. a high percentage of people scan the topic headings on the first page of the board and then post redundant questions as well as redundant info.

If the mods would be consistent on merging similar threads it would be a good thing, but the mods are far from consistent in this regard.

I've learned to live with it. This board is far from the worst in this kind of behavior.

Yeah. When I said we, I mean the Mod's btw :)
I must say though, this Forum is one of best kept Boards I've ever been on!

Though, back on topic, do you think you will purchase CS5? I'm a little unsure, as CS3 suites me just fine.

the integration between apps and memory utilization is much improved with CS5. It's the main reason why I'm going to buy it. On a machine that is (cough) limited to 4Gb, every little bit of performance improvement from the applications helps.

It also helps that I can buy CS5 at academic pricing, approx 25% of list. I too skipped CS4 and have been testing CS5 for 9 months.

Nice, my school will probably upgrade, and I'll get it for free :) That's how I got all my other software.

Would you care to point me to the 3rd one?
If you see threads that need to be merged, then use the report post button to let us know. Moderators do not sit and watch each forum for 24/7. Believe it or not, we have lives outside of NBR.

Yeah I just went and looked at the one in OT and there are too many off topic comments to merge it with this one, so I'll just leave that one there. :p

But thanks for letting me know. :)

On that note... maybe I should register? :) :D

(Not that I'd win anything anyway... and I do have an Adobe ID from my CS4 shopping :D)

(And not sure how exactly I can do that - I'm landing at Manchester at 14:30GMT - event is at 15.00GMT... let it run on a laptop at home?)

Unless it's 64 bit, you've got good reason to upgrade.

As for me, I just invested heavily (training books/video) in CS4, so it'll be learning it for a while before I upgrade.
Granted, I'll be behind and playing catch-up, but at least I'll get the next version when all the bugs have been worked out. In the mean time, I'll look forward to hearing the reviews from all you intrepid first responders out there.
