Has anybody heard of Cairo the shell alternative for Windows?
They are slated to have a private alpha testing out at the end of the month. Their website is here.

I would like to know what people think.

i only read the home page and the FAQs, and only saw the one picture they have.

but this looks great. i'm currently using just the windows standard theme, but this might make me change. i just hope it doesn't hog resources.

Its been in the talks amoung many theme designers. Its also slated for a windows XP release aswell making it unique having both vista and xp relelases.

It is kind of a median between Vista and leopard with a tad of couva sutra in there.

Finally a new DE for Windows instead of the default one that MS gives you, it doesn't seem inspiring at all though...

Are you serious? This looks almost exactly like OS X. It looks like it has elements of both Apple and Windows.

It's nice. I think I'll give it a try on my XP platform, but I think I'll leave Vista as is for now. The website says that they will be releasing the Vista version first, however.

    x2

At a first glance, I didn't even notice the resemblance between it and OS X. And I do know how OS X looks like.

I hear what you're saying. That's why I said it looks almost identical. You can see that they took elements of both Vista and OS X. It's just a merging of the two, IMO.

    It's really clean looking.
