I was using WinDirStat and I came across the following file:

    C:\expandedSetup\sources\install.wim

I did a bit of light digging and this seems to be related with windows installation so it seems that I can delete it but I just want to make sure.

Did you create an .iso file at some point with the Oscdimg.exe - ...command? If yes I am sure it is safe to delete.

I did use an ISO to install windows 7 onto the machine (way back in 2009) but I'm sure I didn't use Oscdimg.exe.

IF you want to play it safe, move it to an external hard drive or create a full image before deleting.

I deleted the file and restarted the computer a couple of hours ago and there doesn't seem to be any problems.

I was going to start another thread for this but I might as well post it here.

While formatting an external hard drive for cloning using Windows Disk Management I saw that my 9.28GB recovery partition seems to be 100% free (I checked if the files were hidden).

Now to my question, even if it is empty or not do I need the partition if I have 2 clones (soon to be 3) of my drive which I image twice a month?

If you don't use it, then you don't need it. ;)
