    Selling a windows laptop I want to save some files before I sell it can I just connect it with USB or FireWire or do I have to do the usual copy to stick back and forth

    How large are these files combined? External HDD as common sharing device would be a quick and reliable process

    The newer Mac OS X sould read and write to NTFS without a hitch but Windows cannot read the OS X file system.
    So get a HDD or USB storage formatted to NTFS on the Windows PC, then copy away.
