Hello, I'm looking into the HP dm3t, and I wanted to know if I could reformat the notebook using an external DVD drive. I've reformatted several computers several times, but never with an external optical drive. The dm3t doesn't have a drive built in, so I'd wondering if it'll work with an external DVD drive.
Like... would the computer recognize the USB-connected DVD drive during the initial boot-up and allow me to reformat Windows with my DVD? Thanks![]()

Yes , Just plug in the dvd-rw then boot into the bios and make sure that the dvd-rw is top of the list for boot devices.
EDIT : Also to keep your pre-activated key , not the one on the bottom of you notebook , use a program called ABR it will backup your key and all the activation details , and then you can restore them after your clean install, use the Beta version for Win7.
