My copy of Win 7 Pro is from the $30 .edu promotion. I have it installed on my current notebook, but want to do a clean install with Win 7 Pro as soon as my new laptop gets here. Of course, I'd remove Win 7 from my current laptop first and put the old HDD back in (which has Win XP).
This doesn't violate the EULA right? Will I run into any problems when trying to validate my Win 7 Pro key or will I have to call MS?

Type cmd in Start menu.
Right-click on the first result (cmd.exe) and click on Run as administrator (confirm by clicking Yes if required).
Type slmgr -dli
Then a window pops up, showing you the Windows Activation status, you should see on the second row either OEM channel or RETAIL channel.
If your license is RETAIL, license is movable to another computer if you delete it from the previous one.
OEM is tied to the original computer. -
nice... it says RETAIL channel
thanks -
Nice info...
Can I reuse my Win7 Pro on my new laptop?
