I just uninstalled that driver or whatever, and I booted it up again and I got the blue screen again. Something to do with "MPRIFL.SYS", anyways when I try and install that thing I get this error :(

I'm using vista x64 (as you probably already know) and its a dell if that helps.

Hopefully you don't like that software too much, because guess what?
That's what's causing the problem. Funny how one little word was enough info to spur the research I had to do to solve your problem.

First, go back to programs and features. Uninstall Folder Lockbox (I would take anything you care about out of those locked folders before uninstalling...)
Then, go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete "Windrvnt.sys"

Also download and install this program and find all mentions of Folder Lockbox and remove them.
And hopefully we'll finally be done.

wow I hate that thing, I can't believe that was the problem.
I can't seem to find "Windrvnt.sys" would it be in one of the sub folders?
I even searched for it and no luck.

If it's not there it was probably removed when the program was uninstalled.
Is there a "MPRIFL.SYS" present anywhere?

Just let me know if you get another BSOD, but I think you should be good now (as long as you used the driver manager software I linked to)...

    Nope there is no "MPRIFL.SYS".
Yes, I did install that driver manager tool and I couldn't find anything that had to do with that LockBox. :)
Anyways thanks so much for all your help and time. I can't believe I found someone like you over the internet that was so nice to help me. :D

    Glad to have helped.

Post back if you get another BSOD. If you don't post back in a couple days to let me know that it's solved now. :)

I don't have a recovery cd. This has been going on for like 9 months now since I bought my computer so I'm not exactly sure if that would help.

Do you use this laptop on your lap, or on a table?

My sister had a laptop with a loose RAM slot that would freeze (not sure if it would BSOD) the computer when the computer was being moved around.

It's because of that software, it's still got a bad device installed.
I am confident at this point that it is a software error, I think the best thing for you to do would be to just reload the computer.
Do you still have your recovery partition intact? If so, just back everything important up and use the recovery partition.

Well, he has a Dell and Dells come with recovery partitions, and I have doubts that our friend has done a clean format, or he'd have the disk to do a reload with! So I feel pretty confident that he's got a recovery partition.

The problem is not that he has the wrong drivers for his hardware, it's that that software lockbox has emulated a device and installed a driver incompatible with the rest of his system. It's gotta be removed. If I was personally in front of his PC I might be able to fix it, but volleying data back and forth can get tiresome. At one point, it's better for the user to just save themselves the headache and reload.
