I have a 32 bit machine(single core), can I install win7 on it using a 64 bit disk I have lying around?(I have a technet subscription and only downloaded a 64 bit version, then bought a netbook)

If you're processor didn't support 64bit Architecture, then, you can't install 64bit OSes into that Machine.
You can still download the 32bit version and install it. Both 32bit and 64bit Windows share the same license key. -
okay so the 64-bit disk doesn't contain the 32-bit OS as well?(was hoping since the license keys were the same)
-
It's purely 32bit OS if it is stated 32bit and it is purely 64bit OS if it is stated 64bit.
Unless, it stated 32bit and 64bit OS together. -
Under Vista, they didn't not ship x86 AND x64 editions on the same disks.
I find it unlikely they would change that for Windows 7. -
Hope so. Because it is unfair to do not have 64bit and 32bit together, especially on the laptop which can support 64bit OSes. Moreover, we paid for the license key and we got only half of it. LOL.

But notice the retail editions contain disks for both x86 and x64. Understandably you pay more for them.
So technically, you did pay for one edition
-
no they are not on the same disc. there are separate discs for 64 and 32. as surf said if you buy retail but you still have to use the right version. the lic key will be the same though. a 64 key can be used for a 32 and visa versa
Can I use a 64-bit disk to install on a 32-bit machine?(Win7 Pro)
