My laptop came with the 64bit and 32bit CDs, and 64bit was already installed on my laptop. I want to install 32bit instead, but I can't seem to find the product key on the cd (it's a blue cd). When I right click Computer and go to properties, there is a product key there. Can I use that product key when installing 32bit?
If not where can I find the right product key?
Also, should the CD I'm installing 32bit from be blue? It's called "Recovery DVD-ROM for Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit". It's for Midern computers only (Sager)

I believe that Microsoft uses the same keys for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In other words, try it, I expect it to work. As for the color of the CD... who cares?

If the Vista copy you have is a retail version, then yes keys work for both 32bit and 64bit.
For OEM keys, the key is also specific to the 'bit-ness' so you'd need a new license. -
Uh, I don't think mine is retail since it says on there that it is only distributed with a new Midern PC. So will it ask me for a product key?
-
it probably will. in xp, i used a program called magical jellybean keyfinder and used that to find the real key and change it(when i bought another xp disc just for the key). dunno if it works for vista

My CD is OEM, I believe, because when I look in computer properties, the product key has OEM in it. Not sure if its coincidence, but I assume its OEM.
So, if it asks for a product key, do I have to call Microsoft and ask them what?
Can I use my 64bit product key when installing 32bit?
