    Hi!

I have ordered a notebook from Dell and will recieve a copy of Microsoft Vista with it. My question is if I can use that copy of Vista on another computer I own. The main reason I ask is because I want to use a 64-bit version instead of the 32-bit version I will recieve with the notebook. Its better to ask first if its doable before you buy a new copy of Vista ;).

Thanks in advance and sorry if it has been asked before!

Historically, there's a bit of code added to the copy of Windows that comes with computers from these big vendors that checks your motherboard for their signature. There's a good chance it may not work.

No, that copy is an OEM license married to the computer it was purchased on.
