I'd like to get a terabyte and make a few equal partitions.. can Windows device manager do it or do I need a 3rd party app?

And, if you're not satisfied with the way the built-in disk manager does it, there are some freewares out there that do a good job of partitioning, including EASEUS' partition manager (which is free for personal use). I've used the EASEUS product several times, including doing some rather complicated partition re-jiggering, and I've been quite happy with it.

LOL.. partition re-jigger

Well, ok, I used some more colorful adjectives
when I was in the process, but I don't think I could put those up here without getting a "friendly" little visit from Chaz in his Enforcer mode.

Yeah, I'm actually happy with EASUS Partition Manager. Efficient and to the point. Built in Windows volume management sucks big time.
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about Chaz, I heard Vader's got him on some thrill hunt out in the Dagobah sector. -
Maybe so, but that just means that I'd have Padme after me, and let me tell you, I'd rather be ducking from Chaz then Padme!
Can Windows partition an external HD?
