Mine portage M200 does not come with optical drive, I want to install windows 7 on it, tried to boot from USB or the regular external DVD rom with no luck. Anybody know how to resolve it?

    Many thanks!

you can buy an external DVD rom or use the windows 7 usb install file...there is a thread on here somewhere on how to do it. I forget where it is....i personally think the process to install from USB is more work then it is worth.

Have you tried to enable the usb or dvd as a bootup device in the Bios? Make one or the other the first priority as a boot device.

Yes, I did, but it seemed that the system won't boot from either USB or external DVD, the only option is to boot from network, but I don't know how to set it up. Any ideas?

Have you used Microsoft DVD/USB Tool to create your bootable Windows 7 USB? If you haven't then you may want to have a look at this thread for instructions.

The M200 would only boot from the external DVD drive Toshiba sold and a few others (IIRC there was an older Targus it would boot from). Toshiba also add an utility to format the SD Card as bootable floppy.

If you head over to The Buzz: Tablet Computer News - The Buzz: Tablet Computer News and Forums there is a quite a bit of information on the M200 in the forums...
