    Good afternoon.

I would like to ask you whether if I buy one of the following laptop:

    1. Dell studio 1557
    2. Dell studio 1558
    3. Hp pavilion dv7-3110ea
    4. Hp pavilion dv7-3111ea
    5. Hp pavilion dv6-2129ev
    6. Hp pavilion dv7-3165ev

Whether I will be able to install a new OS (e.g. windows 7 ultimate 64bit Greek) from the beggining (ie COMPLETELY erasing all of the hard disk partitions of the laptop and molding of two new ntfs partition one for the operating and another just to save various files, etc.)

It is understood that install the drivers needed for all the extras that can have individual laptop.
And I ask this because recently I went to a friend and i encountered a very strange problem that i have never seen another laptop, which was briefly as follows:
Because we now considering buying one of these(Or any other you suggest) laptops and I want to know for sure if i can pinstall new operating system.
Whoever can answer me with confidence especially if you have any of these laptops and have done what I would call principal.

And because many of you may ask why not leave the factory operating in each laptop and just restored the programs is simple and does not need to answer that although I can uninstall the "trash" programs but for me the issue is that many of these programs in addition to the installation files might start some "hidden" services to find them and want them off time and much patience so I think what is very easy to install the operating authority and to pass the drivers who you may have and another reason is that in my laptop hard disk i want ONLY two partition as i mention above.

You can install any OS you want on any comps. The language difference has no bearing on device drivers. And if you install Ultimate you can switch between languages as you go, when you like.

    cheers ...

As already tallied in my first topic in the Toshiba satellite l505-13n i can't install other os than it has the laptop inside and i already tallied in my first post the problems i met.

So if you have any of these laptops i mentioning on my first post please tell me if you try to install other o.s. and if you have succeeded it or not?

I don't mind the language so much as i can install WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS a different o.s. that the laptop has in one and only partition(Not two partition one for operating system and another for boot files)

Ive installed Windows 7 Pro on my HP pavilion dv2500 fine. It didnt even need to install drivers, windows 7 did it all. I cant see a reason to why it wouldnt work. Its common practice for HP owners to do a clean install to get rid of the factory bloatware.

Language is not relevant if you have ultimate.

If you do purchase a HP and somehow run into driver problems, the driver thread is here.

As for your friends Toshiba Satellite, you can install any OS but Toshiba will ONLY support the operating system the machine came with. They misled your friend just to get rid of him.

Some laptop makers have a preferred order, but others don't

Generally, chipset first, then video, then network is the preferred order.

After that, it gets dicey because of the variety of hardware...

If the laptop comes with Windows 7 the drivers available from the manufacturer are going to support Windows 7 - if it comes with 7 basic and you put on 7 ultimate the drivers are still going to work.
