Are you using firefox? Live mesh is not compatible with Firefox.

Live Mesh doesn't install to a browser...it's an actual standalone program like Syncplicity.

Live mesh doesn't install to a browser, but its plugins does. It's a combination of standalone program and a web cloud program. Also, in order to fully utilize live mesh's features such as the obvious "online cloud storage", you must use internet explorer. Otherwise, only remote desktop, news, and folders are available in the standalone live mesh program.

Since the OP didn't specify clearly enough where the error is generated, it could be from the compatibility issue with firefox.

I have used Live Mesh with firefox before...and I didn't install any plugins for Firefox specifically. Though, whenever I need to go livemesh.com I used IETab for that.

If you want to remote control computer through the browser, you have to install active x plugin which only works through IE, at least for the time being. The last time I used firefox to access live mesh, none of the features are supported. It redirected me a "browser not supported" page.

BTW.. the error you're experiencing is related to your University's proxy servers.

Ah, no your right. That sounds about right, that's the reason why I was using IEtab for that site.

Is it a legal copy of windows vista. If it is, you should not have any problems. Check and make sure you are updated with Windows update as well.

Not saying you have done anything below board. Sometimes bad copies of Vista get loose.

The error code that he posted states that there's problem with the proxy that he's using.

So how can I fix the problem, besides dealing with my university network department?

Have you tried using a proxy server like ultrasurf and test it out? Your problem might be due to your university blocking the ports which live mesh uses.
