I been looking for some time but have yet to find a software that is capable of creating a bootable image like what you find or create when you get from a electronic retailer that has the factor recovery cd or allows you to make a recovery cd to restore the computer back to factory settings. Is there any software that is capable of doing this for a standalone install? I know there are software to create backup image that can be later restored from the ext HDD or another attached HDD where the image is stored. But what I like to do is use the software on cd/dvd not from the HDD to read the HDD and then create a bootable cd/dvd that which the other user can just do a boot from cd/dvd and then restore back the working image as though it was first installed. I used Acronis but that requires the program to be installed on the HDD and since I don't want to give them a program I have and use. What other programs will run right off the cd/dvd media and will do the same function and properly make a backup bootable cd/dvd to restore the computer????

What it is describing is just like the other software it create a image on another HDD or backup media but doesn't create a actual bootable recover cd/dvd media you would get if you bought a factory made computer that come with it's own recovery cd/dvd. This is what I am trying to accomplish with a home build system so one doesn't have to hook a HDD to recover the computer when one does a recovery to restore the computer back to working conditions. This is the path I am leaning toward and asking if anyone whom dealt with factory recovery created cd knows the ins and out of how those companies go about creating such media so I can create one from a home built installation???

I have a new home built system. I have a Win 7 OEM disk I installed from. I also have an external disk that I did a full backup image. If the computer HDD (actually SSD) ever craps out I will just reinstall Win 7 and then the image and I should be back in business.

You didn't take the time to read what I was asking. I already can do that already....take a second read as to what I was inquiring about. This is about creating a install cd/dvd like the factory install cd/dvd you get when you buy a factory made desktop or laptop to reboot back to factory settings.....
