Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I figure any netbook with 1 GB of RAM would be comparable, so can they? Thanks in advance! Looking to run trillian, on a dell mini 1012, meebo the web based IM client program works fine, but I am wondering if I can run trillian in the background and browse the net with it running or if you guys think I should just stick with the meebo.com alternative....

should not be a problem. Even video/voice chat should work.
If you open many chat windows and web pages at the same time things will slow down and switching between them might have some lag. But it should not crash or cause other problems. -
1GB of RAM used to be HUGE. I'd be surprised if Trillian took more than 20-30MB of RAM. I know pidgin on my machine is only 25MB.
The web browser itself is much more likely to eat up your memory than any chat client. -
Thanks wave & Pitabred! I went ahead and installed it without any problems, and it's running smoothly even with one browser window open! I missed having it on the mini so I am delighted it works so well!

I used to run Windows 98, AIM, mIRC, Netscape and other things with only 64 (and then 128MB) of RAM
Kids these days don't know how good they got it... hehe

You're so right, I remember when a 65 MB HDD was a BIG deal! LOL!!!
Can trillian run on a netbook with 1 GB of RAM?
