I am starting to think i can install any performance improving updates on my vista....99% updates manually downloaded dont install due to some random errors...

The only updates i can install are security updates for defender etc...

Can someone recommend me a link to latest Vista updates for my machine...

    its x86 based....

    32-bit vista..

Will be very thankful..... (maybe give u a rep)

Yep, you are right they need to improve it so folks CAN'T turn off services and then b*i*t*c*h* at Microsoft about how bad the OS is when the services are turned off. Yep, you are right this is ALL Microsoft's fault.

While that may be true Scud, i think that microsoft has at least some thing to do with it, that's why we have bug fixes.

for those who are complaining to the OP...maybe MSFT wouldn't need to regulary update their program if they didn't have so many freaking problems! so yes..it was the op's fault for not turning update on...but MSFT's fault that he even has to turn it on

first of all..notice that i said REGULAR UPDATES..not 'some'

i can't really think of any software that requires updates on a weekly basis...itunes update gets annoying...but that's all I can think of that require constant updates

Well an OS is a very big piece of software so it'll need a lot of bug fixes. All they are doing is trying to lower the amount of updates you need for SP1, and also it's mostly windows defender updates.

    Well straight from dictionary.com:
So those updates are regular. Those updates are just making sure that you don't start complaining how vista is stalling on you when they have a new update that fixes it. =\

Yes it does, but it's still in it's beginning stages so it's ok. If it were out for a few years now that might be a little strange but it just got released earlier this year.

As far as I know Microsoft releases updates only once in a month (except windows defender), unless under special circumstances. Technology is developing so does the OS. Stop complaining about updates.

sorry, but all these updates arn't due to developing technology. these are updates due to prior mistakes...there's a difference...huge difference

sp1 is not going to offer any new upgrades...just improve bugs from prior mistakes and issues

so maybe if they made it right the first time..we woudn't have to deal with msft's incomptencies

The codes are written by human beings. Mistakes are inevitable. Nothing in this world is 100% perfect. Even we learn from our previous mistakes.

It's no big deal for a OS to have minor bugs and issues. Can you name any one OS without any single bug or issue?.

Windows will be the most widely used OS ever... forever....

I don't have any problems with the current version of vista. Do you really have any issues?

msft is constantly losing customers to competition every day...windows was the dominating OS in the 90's, but it is slowly losing their loyal customer base

How do you get it to update daily by itself? I can get it to, Antivir does it by itself and i can't get Avast, or AVG to do it. It'd save me a lot of time if i could.

^ Almost every free antivirus program has daily virus definition update. But AVG does it only once/day I guess and there should be an active internet connection when it does.

The stock install of AVG does this all by itself. The question then becomes what did you do to keep it from updating daily??? ;)
