questions in the title, can vista readyboost be used with SD/CF cards?
was thinking of useing the memorycard slots at the side of the dell 1520 to have one card perminantly in as a readyboost... prob a 1gig one would go well with my 2gig of ram?

any one else do this and is there much performance gained if this is possible?

sd or cf card fast read nealy 25mB
but hard disk could reach 35mB 5400
    42mB 7200
so if use sd or cf ,start will like tortoise take rest.

if you laptop startup use alot of time, you should try hibernate laptop, not turnoff it,you could save much time, and waste no battery.

Readyboost will not really give you much of a boost. It's intended for people who are short on RAM, and since you already have 2GB, you probably will not see much of a difference. If you have a card laying around it's worth trying it out, but I wouldn't go out and buy one just for this purpose.

Readyboost has speed requirements. A regular SD card won't do.

You need a SD card such as the Sandisk Extreme III.

I remember it worked on RC2, but I never got it to work on Ultimate release.

And like the others mentioned, the average SD card is slow as hell.

    It works...
Even the 2G Sandisk Ultra II works but the speed is way slower than a 4G Cruser Micro USB drive. I really don't know if that's the problem of the reader or the card, or both...
