I just installed windows xp but it didnt ask me to set a password for the account, and when i clicked on it there is a password box and it wont let me login...is there some kind of default password that it is supposed to tell you because it didnt tell me anything, so now i cant even get into it.

If it's Home edition, restart the computer in safe mode and choose the administrator login, that doesn't have a password by default.

Well, i rebooted from the cd, and deleted the partition and am currently reformatting the hd. Let me tell you why i think it screwed up. I was formatting it last night really late, like 1:30 am, and it was going really slow..so i just lied down and tried staying awake, but i fell asleep and woke up at 7 am and the computer was at the bios screen, so i have absolutely no idea how it got there. , and i am not sure how to enter safe mode. I know how to enter safe mode on a normal cpu with xp already installed. The problem is that it didnt even ask me to make a password and it automatically put it on there. Im going to try a fresh install in a few minutes when its done reformatting, but tell me how to enter safe mode, is it like f2 or f11 or something?

Think it might be F8
Next time use OphCrack, tells you what your passwords to the usernames to your XP account on the computer. Loads up linux and searches your computer.
Its pretty sweet -
But i dont understand why it automatically set a password when it never even asked me to set one. The default administrator account had a password and even the guest account had a password.
Can't Enter Windows XP
