Of course you can. (Assuming nothing is broken on the OS)

Internet Explorer -> Internet Options and its a subpoint somewhere in there.

Alternatively download CCleaner and use that - www.ccleaner.com

To delete browsing history go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Browsing History -- on first screen check: Delete browsing history on exit. For additional Temporary Internet Files options, click on: Browsing history Settings, Temporary Internet Files, and select the option(s) of your choice.

If I remember correctly, IE7 is pretty much the same as IE8 as far as this function is concerned. To delete browsing history go to Tools, Internet Options, General, and Browsing History -- on first page check: "Delete browsing history on exit." For additional Temporary Internet Files options, click on: Browsing history Settings, Temporary Internet Files, and select the option(s) of your choice.

I've tried all those things and I'm not a new computer user....I just don't get it. When I open IE7, the page has a Google tool bar with a drop down in the upper left hand corner. The drop down contains everything we've searched for since we got our computer over a month ago. Why can't I delete this information???

That might be stored under "text box entries" or however it translates from German...

    Try CCleaner.

That is not your 'browsing history' it is your 'google search history'.

To clear your search history, click the drop-down arrow on the Google Toolbar search box, and at the very bottom of the list on the far right side click the Clear History link.

Plus, you can manually delete your Temporary Internet Files. I don't remember the actual location in IE7 -- as I'm now using IE8, but they are very similar. In IE8 you would go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Browsing History, Settings, Temporary Internet Files, and selecting View Files. Once there, you can choose to delete all of your Temporary Internet Files, or selectively delete the ones you wish. You can go into Cookies and delete those too, if you choose. (In IE8 they are stored together, so you have to manually select which TIFs or Cookies you wish to delete.)

In regard to your Google Toolbar: If you can't delete your searched items by using the Clear History link, locate the Google Toolbar folder in your C drive, (do an Advanced Search for it), and you might be able to delete the list of sites you've visited that way. However, it is also possible that the items that are listed on the Google Toolbar, may be stored in some external location, so that you wouldn't have the power to delete or alter them.

You can hide the Google Toolbar if you wish, by going to IE7, View, Toolbars, and removing the check mark in front of Google Toolbar. And of course you can delete it from your system. You can also reinstall IE7 WITHOUT checking the box for the Google Toolbar -- that is, assuming you can find a download site for a former version of IE. Suggestion: why don't you try IE8? It may solve your problem.
