I have good internet connection and no problem using Skype but I'm getting error message HTTP404 Not Found every time I try to access the web. If I type in a specific web address I get "DSL Router requires a user name and password" message. Help please!

Try pinging a web address in a command prompt. If you get a loopback, then you have connectivity, which means that IE might be corrupted. You can try resetting your modem/router too.

Are you connected wirelessly or wired to the internet?

Any chance you're connecting on a proxy server?

Restart your router or reset it.

Restart your DNS Server and try browsing in some other browser.

If none of the above works, then you can try doing a clean reboot via MSconfig (Safe Mode + disable all non-Microsoft services (except WiFi if applicable) + disable all startup entries (except WiFi program, if applicable).

Try connecting to Facebook then and if you get in, then it could be a virus.
