I went through some of the vista optimizing steps from one of the threads and everything seemed to work. Then I found that I was unable to browse the internet through firefox or IE.
Firefox doesn't open and IE freezes when opened. The processes show for both . It's weird because It isn't due to my internet. I can still connect to online games easily. Maybe I turned something off that is needed to allow web browsing?

I would suggest you go through those guides again, and for each item:
1) Undo it.
2) Reboot.
3) If better, you've found the problem. If not better, then redo the action and reboot again. -

actually Safari mite open slow but its damn smooth once u start using it..
obviously opera & FF have more features...
but Safari has some features which distinguish it.
above all its Simple to use. and no frills.
So i have still kept it.
As for the OP:
Try running a Ping command
and type this in cmd prompt.
"ipconfig/flushdns" -
It's not a bug, its a [security] feature.

As nocturnal310 said, "ipconfig/flushdns" sounds the best and fast solution.

Wow, talk about a thread out of control. Seriously people, help the guy instead of campaigning here.

I found the problem. It appears it was the disabling of workstation tweak that made me unable to browse. Thanks for any suggestions.
By the way, Safari is really annoying. My dad was using it on his computer and every time he did I was getting disconnected out of any game I was playing.
