    Hi,

I can't connect to some websites.

    These include:

    getafreelancer.com
    freelancer.com
    amazon.com
    amazon.ca
    answers.yahoo.com

There are more but I can't remember them at the moment

Firefox fails at "Connecting to xxx".

I know it's not a virus because I have the same problem on two laptops, my desktop, a macbook, and my iphone when connected to my router.

I tried resetting my router and that didn't solve the problem.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Have you tried using a different dns server?

    Thanks

What do I change the DNS server to?

Right now it's set to "Obtain DNS information automatically" on my router.

I would disable security and see if you can access all the web sites. If this works than adjust security to a level that allows access.

As a quick test, go to

    Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

right click your adapter, choose properties

click on tcpip v4, choose properties button

insert the following into the dns boxes

    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220

Click OK, surf to those pages that did not work before

Just for the suspicious, those are two of the DNS resolvers at OpenDNS.com, not gerryf19's super-secret botnet (at least so far as dnsstuff.com can tell).

Thank you Shyster. I thought I had put that in. I was originally going to just put in the opendns site, but they've reorganized it recently and it is darn near impossible to find instructions on how to use opendns now....
