Ok, this seems like a simple problem, but it is eluding me like no tomorrow.

I recently installed Borderlands (loving it btw), and I wanted to mess around with the .ini files, but I can't edit them.

When I double click on the file, it opens in Notepad like it should, I edit it how I see fit, and then save, but I get the error message:

Cannot create the . . . .ini file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

I tried Google, and I have taken ownership of the Folder it is in, and the file itself. I have taken ownership, and given my name full permissions, but it STILL wont let me.

Did I miss something? Am I doing something wrong?

And yes, UAC is turned off. Was the first thing I turned off when I got Vista.

Does it work when you save it to the desktop then replace the file ?

I did try that, but it saves it as a Notepad file, not a .ini.

After you edit the file go to file - save as, choose all files type, then name the file "the old ini file name".ini and try replace it.

Ahh ok, I didn't realize just naming it "Default.ini" would change the file from a text file to an .ini file when saving it.

    Thanks for the info.

Yeap, just need to select the file type as "all files" instead of "text documents" (txt). Then you can pretty much rename the file to whatever you want.

Try replace the .ini after that procedure, if you successfully replace it then it means something is wrong with the rights you have on that folder :p
