I've had a fresh xp installation on my T61 thinkpad. Now I don't get any sound at all... In "Sounds and audio devices" in the control panel, it says it doesnt recognize any audio devices...
The thing is I downloaded the driver (7ka114ww.exe) from the lenovo site and I assume It's been installed correctly previously already since it asks me to overwrite current files...
I'm not sure how to uninstall the driver under device manager only because I can't seem to find that option. It lists that I have Legacy audio driver installed ...
-
please help
-
When you say it doesn't recognize any devices are there any devices showing up as unknown on your system?
Grand Admiral -
actually yes... there are 2 unknown devices in the device manager browser... as well as a few other devices labeled with a "?" that I've yet to install drivers for I guess
-
any idea what those devices could be?? ... and I'm not sure what to download for the other devices as well...
here's the list I have....
(?) Base System Device
(?) Base System Device
(?) Base System Device
(?) BCM2045B
(?) PCI Device
(?) PCI Memory Controller
(?) SM Bus Controlller
(?) Unknown Device

anyhelp would be appreciated -
You have to install the chipset driver..will clean half of this stuff..
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-025753.htm -
How do I know which chipset to download from the list?
-
Download CPU-Z. Run it, then go to the 'Mainboard' tab.
-
according to pcwizard ... Intel GM965 is my chipset...
After downloading
--Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility -- installed it
--Intel® Matrix Storage Manager -- installed it
--Graphics Driver -- error, said I didn't meet the minimum requirements...
Anyway... that only took care of the SM Bus Controller... Is that right? -
omg ... i got it... i love you guys
Can't get right Audio driver...
