I has this posted in the accessory forum, but since then I have realized it is not a problem with the actual headphones, but with the computer itself. I reinstalled the audio driver already as well.

I believe that the problem is because the computer will not accept the headphones as being the default device. For some reason or other I click it to go and it doesn't, just stays there on the speakers as default. It will only allow me to set them as the default communications device.

The problem is that the computer tells me, while my music is playing into the headphones, that the headphones are silent and that the speakers are on. The problem with this is that Skype's notification messages are the only thing getting through to the headphones (and having the mixer tell me that the headphones are actually making sound) and when it does my music begins to play of the speakers for a few seconds (like it said they were already) while it plays the Skype sound and then return to the headphones.

I am unsure if I have more programs that will be like this, but I would really rather not be headphone crippled. Is there any way to make it accept that the headphones should be playing the music as well as Skype when plugged in?

I can tell you that it is skype messing up the settings. I was unable to fix this using the Windows default Sound device management program. Luckly my soundcard had its own program that was able to overwrite the skype settings.

Sorry for the post necro. Go go search function!

I've got these same issues, and due to the issues reported above that I'm also having, I knew it was a Skype issue. Skype basically totally takes over your devices.

I'm using a laptop, connected to a LCD TV through HDMI, and I've got the same problem with the headphones listed as the "default communications device", no doubt set by Skype, and then my TV speakers set as "Default Device".

My laptop is the HP Dv6t-SE. I'm running the latest audio drivers from the HP drivers thread for my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated since while I do have a soundcard, I have not seen any settings I can mess with that come with it. :(

    Thanks again.

Ya, I've updated Skype and audio drivers, and haven't had any luck. :(

    Anyone else with suggestions, please?

    Thank you.

    Bump.

Would it make a difference if I get a 3.5mm jack to USB adapter? Not sure if going USB would effect anything?

I don't know how to make all sound go through the headphones. Example is when in Ventrilo, I can select the input/output device as the headphones, which will make all voice go through the headphones, or pick up my voice from the mic.

But pandora, game sounds, ventrilo sounds such as the mic "clicks", all go through my TVs speakers.

I do not know how to make everything go through my headphones. :(

    Thank you for any help.
