Duke, IF you want to format the entire Hard drive, I would DL a win 7 ISO and create a DVD, (Which can be found here)
G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
Then boot from DVD (make sure your Bios is set to boot from the DVD drive first)
Installing and reinstalling Windows 7
See Using the Custom installation option and formatting the hard disk.
Are you trying to do a clean install of windows? -
Is your machine set up to boot from the optical drive? Many people take the ODD out of teh boot sequence to speed things up a bit.
Be sure to back up your personal stuff, a format/reinstall will likely erase the entire hard drive. -
How do i get into the bios to check that it is set to boot from dvd drive first?
-
Would have thought F1, F2 or Del
-
yah, keep a close eye on the startup screen that pops up when you first turn on the machine, you'll see a note there telling you how to get into the BIOS.
-
you might not even have to change any bios settings. usually on boot you get a quick option to press a key to enter bios or another one to enter a boot menu. try the boot menu and select cdrom.

got it to finally work, looked on google on how to get to boot bios for acer laptops then just had to hit f2 then was able to change dvd to boot first
.
