Hey everyone. I tried to install windows xp last night and when I got to the part where I had to insert the CD key, the setup said the key was invalid. I tried both the key that came with the disk AND the key that was on the bottom of my dell laptop and neither worked.

I had already deleted all the other partitioned drives so now I am constantly stuck in the setup yet I cannot continiue because for some reason the computer will not accept my cd keys.

    Does anyone have any advice?

Call up the Microsoft validation number and see if you can get the key verified, or get validation through that method.

With my Dell the only "key" is on the bottom of the computer. There is no key on the re-install disk.
