I have a strange problem... When I want to update my Windows Vista via Windows Update I can see there's 15 important updates. However, I can't see the individual updates. It's the same problem with recommended updates.

I haven't installed anything besides updating Windows via "Windows Update". It's just from one day to another this problem has occured. Has worked before where I could choose which updates I wanted to install. Also, I can see the design of WU has changed. Don't think I've been able to choose what updates I wanted since the design has changed.

    Any solution to this ?

    Regards,
    Jakob Laursen

    Just out of curiosity?

Have you restarted, have you tried installing the important updates?

What I also don't undestand - your "Updates" look odd...
    this "sidbar" on the right...

And I don't think Sandinavian Vista is in anyway different to a German one.
(Or English one for that matter)

    So...
Are you running any docks/themes etc.?

I've tried restarting... Haven't installed the important updates as I like to see what I install before I install them.

Haven't installed any strange programs or so... Windows, a few Lenovo ThinkVantage applications, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop CS4 etc.

    this is strange indeed.

By the way - I checked, I do not have the "sidebar".

    your etc. isn't specific.

MS Office and Photoshop CS4 don't cause that - got them.

    I assume its some programme...

Actually, can you create another account and try on that one? (just looking for them)

Tried from another account, same problem... I haven't installed anything from the time it worked and until now... Maybe I should just install the important updates and see if that corrects the problem. It is a 100% legit Windows installation I have, so there shouldn't be any problems... But I still like to get an oveview of what I'm about to install...

Check out the "View" option then "Go to" within the update dialog and see if view available updates is checkmarked.

I would just like to add that I occationaly have the same problem. It was solved in the past when I installed the important updates, but just as Laursen I am very reluctant to do so again.

Where can I find this "View" option? I can not find it in the dialog were the updates are supposed to be listed.

Just a thought---i had foregotten about this thread, but just this past week I ran into a similar wierd windows update problem that while not exactly the same did involve windows update not displaying properly

Used a program to see what background activity was occuring and saw that Windows was trying to repeatedly access a file that it could not.

    go to the folder

    C:\Windows\winsxs

You should see a ton of folders here--but what FILES are in this folder (not subfolders)

The problem is though, winsxs isn't really a classical folder...

Everything was fine untill today. My 32bit Vista Home Premium was up to date and I was always able to see updates I was going to install. Today the problem occured when I installed Microsoft Office 2007 Language Pack, Swedish as in the PRTSCR in the beggining of the thread... I dunno if you have language packs installed but it seems that it has caused the problem on my notebook...

Nope, seems like the prtscr is dannish, am I right?
