Ok, now this is starting to piss me off. I bought my laptop (dell e1405) with Vista Home Premium preinstalled and I like it, but it came with Windows Media Player 11. That's fine too (I need it to share media with my Xbox 360), but I also installed Media Player Classic and Media Monkey to take over default music and video playing... but WMP11 keeps on playing these files no matter what. Even after choosing Mediamonkey and MPC to be my default players (in their options menu), WMP11 keeps on playing the files.
The thing that pisses me off, is that I can find no way to change the file type playback options for WMP11. It's as if it's forcing me to use it as the default player. Uninstalling WMP11 is not an option for me.
Is there some hidden menu option, or am I just not seeing it?
Help! Thanks!

As a sidenote, the microsoft support site says there should be a file types tab under file>tools>options, but that tab doesn't seem to exist for me.

You can also try Vista's default program manager.
start>>>type: "default programs" >> hit enterAttached Files:

Thanks guys!
Heh it doesn't even let me change all at once (default programs>set default programs>windows media player)... all the boxes are grayed out, preventing me from easily changing it.
Instead I have to go to 'associate file type with program...', which is fine, but I have to select every file I need. Oh well, thanks again!
Can't undefault my WMP11!
