A friend brought me his computer today when it started throwing a 0xc0000005 error code. I traced this to the KB2859537 update and can see it was installed on the 15th of August. Why the problem just started today, I don't know but I can't uninstall the update.

If I go to Programs & Features-View Installed Updates, the update doesn't show up. However, if I go to Update Center-View Installed Updates, it does show up.

This is weird, is there any other way to uninstall the update? Safe Mode doesn't show the Update Center in the Control Panel so that doesn't help either.

    Big thanks to any responses.

only way i know is to do a system restore to the day before the update but depending what that update was it may still not remove it but its worth a try.

Even weirder, I was about to reinstall the update so I booted the machine, now it works fine. The error is gone and normal functions seem to be all there. Good thing too because he didn't have system restore enabled so it would have meant a new install if nothing else could solve it.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
