This is driving me pretty mad, and I'm hoping someone can help.
I noticed the other day there is a new version of chrome out, so I went to 'about google chrome' to update but it says its up to date (version 1.0.154.43) I've only managed to update once that way.![]()
So I downloaded the newest version from filehippo, uninstalled the old version, deleted the google folders in ' %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome' as mentioned here and 'Document settings/Application/Google' then I ran ccleaner's registry cleaner. Thinking that would be enough I went and installed the newest version only to find out once I opened chrome and went to 'about' that the version was still 1.0.154.43!
If anyone can give any ideas it would be appreciated.![]()

Forgot to put already tried that, not joy.
What about revo uninstaller using moderate uninstall mode, that finds 98 things, are they safe to get rid of? -
Yeah, I tried the way you did. Mine got the same result as yours... ver. 1.0.154.43 still, something must be missing of this Chrome updated.

No new version is out. However Google Chrome's "big" 2.0 Update just went from DEV to BETA. It is almost at it's stable build! I cannot wait!

Yer think your right I just done some googling and found other saying there isn't that version out. Although this is what I got straight from google, so I presumed there was an update and not just a mistake made by filehippo.

That's the BETA, not the Stable version. Must of been a mistake from Google. Don't use that, it will be bugy and it will screw up your stable configurations. FileHippo is giving you the latest version by default and it happens to be that there is a BETA update.

Well it makes no difference if I install using that file I still get the old version.
I was reading about the 2.0 sounds good, adblocker is needed though but I doubt it will be built into chrome? -

I’m using 2.0.159.0. You have to subscribe to Developer preview channel to get the version 2 update. Standard or Beta channels still don’t have it.
