YO guys, i had XP on my pc, and installed VISTA, then i got attacked by virus, then i format my pc, and installed xp again, just from all the beginning, (have 2 different bought versions of xp) and couldnt install cause it says i dont have drive, it is all empty, like i dont have a drive to install anything, wtf happened :s, i've tried everything, but nothing :S someone pls help me ?
and i've bought every version, not downloaded, and i've almost tried everything in MS-DOS
i cant install any version, cause it says i have no drive
its about Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XI 1526
2 gb ram
200gb capacity
-
-
i had C drive and Backup (D
but now i have nothing :S
-
As a last resort, download drive diagnostics off the mfg's website and run a test as well as zero'ing out the drive.
Good luck. -
yea but i cant turn on my pc, it wont even install a version i dont have anything, i cant do anything on my pc, only from MS-DOS
-
u have SATA drive, do u not?
cheers ... -
It is possible that the virus attacked the Master Boot Record. Try reinstalling XP with a full NTFS format...if you've already done that, try fixing the MBR through the MSDOS command line.
-
yea i have SATA drive
ive already done that, but ill try the mbr, just not quite sure how -
it says that the old master boot record cannot be loaded / readed
i did like this
fixmbr \device\harddisk0
isnt there anything i can do, this is making me so angry cause i blame it all to vista, i never had trouble like this be4 -
i would take a few more shots at it:
. get gParted live cd and see if u can get into it
. remove the hard drive, use another system or an external drive and see if u can make it alive
. would another drive work?
cheers ... -
it is a laptop i cant remove the drive, and im sure another drive works, cause i have a flash 40mb usb key, and it says its there, maybe some importnant things are erased, dunno what to do
-
Most likely your Partitions are deleted or corupted.
Download and use G-parted to see if partitions exist, or create new partitions with G-parted.
Another option you can do since the fixmbr didn't work is to install a Bootloader. I recommend you download and copy GAG bootloader on to a CD/DVD. Then pick the proper partitions to boot and see if it works.
Here is the link to GAG ..... http://gag.sourceforge.net/
If none of the above works, then I would guess you have some bad clusters which might make it impossible to fix the mbr. Hopefully this is not the case, as you would need to replace harddrive. -
some info on "infected" mbr

another intersting read for ur issue:

cheers ... -
how do i use G-Parted and the GAG, cause i want some details so i dont screw things up
-
here is what it says when i run GAG
usage: ntfsread.exe (-u)
Partition C:\ installed
Partition D:\ installed -
Download G-Parted .ISO file. CLICK HERE AND DOWNLOAD FIRST FILE .
Copy .ISO file to DVD or CD.
Download GAG .ZIP file. CLICK HERE Unzip the file and look for the "cdrom.iso" file.
Copy "cdrom.iso" file to DVD or CD.
Follow directions from my last post.
GAG is VERY EASY to use. But if you are worried about using G-parted feel free to ask, but use it to at least see what your partitions are or if you have any. -
Did GAG work at all? Did you try to set any menu to a partition? If you didn't, set a menu to C and D. Both partitions. -
it says to me [DR-DOS] A:\> and its waiting for me to write something, dont know what
-
Thats werid.
Did you copy the .ISO file to a DVD or CD as a bootable disc?
Did you set your BIOS to boot from DVD/CD-ROM first? -
yes it is booting everything, and it loaded a lot of stuff, but now i need to write something, it doesnt open a menu for me
-
I don't know what else to tell you.
I seriouly think you overlooked something or didn't understand something.
What does your BIOS read? What is it booting first?
Did you try Gparted yet?
If Gparted or GAG doesn't work and you did everything the right way. Then it is most likely a problem with your Hard Drive, like maybe a bad sector or something.
Maybe somebody with more knowledge can help you out.
Try typing .... A:\>fdisk/status or C: format << but don't click yes yet. -
available internel commands are
and
break
call
cd
chcp
chdir
cls
copy
ctty
date
del
delq
dir
drwsitch
echo
echoerr
echos
echoserr

prompt
rd
rem
ren
rename
return
rmdir
set
shift
switch
time
truename
type
ver
verify
vol
and then it says:
[DR-DOS] A:\> -
my computer is booting DVD\CD first
-
where can i see my BIOS, i forgot all this c**p heh...
-
Ok, that just means the DISK IT SELF was not copied as bootable.
Try typing ...install or install_XP or cdrom.iso after the A:\ prompt.
Also try run or setup. -
nice man, now i have a menu
select options:
1. Create partition
2. Delete --
3. SELECT BOOTABLE PARTITION
4. select alternate fixed disk
5. re-write master boot record -
Select 5. and see what happens
-
it says ERROR: CANt save original MBR. Operation Unsuccessful. Press a key to continue.
-
OK, Select option 3 and see what partitions are available.
-
nothing ... should i try and create one ?
-
Select options:
1. Create DOS primary partition
2. Create DOS extended partition
3. Create FAT 32 primary partition -
Yea, if it say it couldn't see any partitions or was there an error.
If there is no error and just no partitions, then go ahead an create one. -
Create a FAT32 partition. Option 3.
-
it says, There is not enough space to create another partition.
Strike a key to return to main menu -
Ok. REBOOT/ RESET
At the A:\ prompt .....type after A:\ C: then press enter
it should now read C:\
write back when you do that. -
how do u englishmen write '':'' i just cant find the button hehehe
-
Don't write the " . Just write the : after C
It is located next to the L key. You must press the shift key too. -
yea it says now c:
-
Ok type ..... FDISK/status
-
i get the menu again
1. create
2. dele
3. select bootable partition
4. select alternate fixed disk
5. re-write master boot record -
Select delete. And delete all partitions you can.
REBOOT.
bring it back to C: as done in before.
Type fdisk
at the menu select 1. create
create a FAT32 partition.
Oh and I have no idea how we got to the fdisk menu earlier when you was supposed to be using the GAG disc. But forget about it now. -
it says i cannot do this in standard mode, how do i change mode ? :S
-
Ok, Now I would actually have to be there to direct any further.
My last and final suggestion would be to go back to C: and type in
FORMAT C: Select Yes at warning. After it's Done, then try to load Windows XP.
If that doesn't work then my best advice would be to Google these commands ...........
Fdisk, Fdisk/status, c:/format, Format, fixmbr
Hopefully you will find a solution to help. GOOD LUCK.
Let me know if it works. -
it says when i type FORMAT C:
[DR-DOS] C:\>format c:
Invalid drive, or format not suppported
FORMAT [/HELP] drive: [F:size] [/N:sectors /T:tracks [/1] [/4] [/8]
[/A] [[/B : /S] [/J]] [/Q : /U] [/V:[label]] [/X]
[DR-DOS] C:\> -
Try other letters like E:, B:, or F:
Otherwise you might have a badcluster or might need other advice that I would not know about. -
nothing :S, now i am confused, cause i dont know what is the m***********g problem . :s
-
