    Hi all,

I'm using Windows Vista Home premium on a HP pavilion dv 2700.

I have Bitdefender Total Security 2008 and Vista Manager installed.

2 months ago, I used Vista Manager and CCleaner to clean up all the invalid registries in the computer, without backing up at all (shame on me). (I have the habit of cleaning using Vista Manager monthly and Cleaner daily, and in the previous times there were no problems.)

Since then, the windows update cannot install its updates automatically. The error 80070002 was encountered. I tried to follow the instruction, deleting the files in the TEMPT folders and etc. but it still did not work. Then I had to manually download and install every single update. But even then, some worked and some did not.

I asked a friend and he said that I might have deleted a registry that enables windows update to automatically install its updates. The thing is I don't know what it is, and cannot recover since I did not back up (due to my carelessness).

So please help me with this problem. I'm really upset to see updates stacked up in my windows update without doing anything.

    Thank you all.

Have you tried disabling BitDefender and try Vista updates again?

    Try doing a system restore.
