I would like to see what files windows wants me to update when I click on the 'search for new updates'. After doing a search windos says that there are 21 available updates for my computer but I cannot see what files that it wants to install. Before the previous updates I could see the files but after recent updates it doe not show the new updates it wants me to insatll. I do not want to install all updates and not seeing them makes me fustrated. does anyone know a solution?

Isn't the text that tells you how many updates there are blue?
I think it is - click on it and it should tell you.

There are none for mine... but you need to click on some text to get the selection.

Nope!! Doesn't work. I click on it but I do not see the update that it wants to install. The list is empty.

    Maybe there is none?

Oddly enough it tells me one optional update - but then there are none....

If there isn't one then why say there is? What's the point?

When it first came up there should have been a selection for express or custom install. I always choose custom so I can see all updates. If you type in windows update into your browser and select the update site after it has ran its activation program it will ask weather express or custom install choose custom and you should see what is there when it is through scanning your system.

Do you mean the Windows Update "window" is empty? I recently ran into this on a Vista Machine. Ultimately, what ended up fixing it was running sfc /scannow

Somehow, one of the files responsible for rendering that window had become corrupt. The user said that he had accidently shut his computer off (powered off) when Windows was in the middle of an update (you know, one that says, Windows is updating files, do not power off your computer).

Well. I am not doing anything unusual. I just click on the windows update in under start or on the task bar at the bottom left and it shows there is an update. Clicking on the link to see the updates it says that i have, there is nothing. Maybe a bug.
