I have a Inspiron notebook loaded with version 6.00 O.E.
I can receive messages but cannot send. Do not know how to correct problem.
Also how do I set up email inbox to display size of received messages?

What type of email protocol is it? (POP, IMAP, etc)
This happens to me too, it turns out my ISP is using the SMTP port for their emails. Maybe you can find an alternate port. -
Can you post the error message? The most common scenario is that your ISP reserved the port 25 (SMTP port for sending mail) for its own domain emails, for example, [email protected], any other domains will not be able to send out emails using the same port. Normally, other mail servers should have port 587 opened too for SMTP in case of port 25 cannot be used. Which email are you trying to send? If it's a work or 3rd party one, you must check if they have any other port opened for SMTP.

For Comcast, make sure you have checked the box My server requires authentication for sending emails.
