    Hi,

    what touchpad is installed? Check Device Manager.
    In case it is a Synaptics, then this might help:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP]
    "DisableTouchPadIfMousePresent"=dword:00000001
    Copy the entire stuff into a new textfile (in notepad) and save it as no_mouse_with_touchpad.reg (or similar). Double click and reboot. You should then have a checkbox in the properties (device settings tab) of your pointing device that allows you to automagically turn off the touchpad if a mouse is attached.

    Not only that but there is sometimes a program that can disable the touchpad. On my old HP Laptop there was a 'Fn + Touchpad Disable/Enable' button shortcut key combination. Try the registry modification above.

    Also, you might not have synaptics driver installed. Without the driver, when using a Usb mouse the mouse can click to wherever it is located even if you don't touch the touchpad. Just install the new drivers to fix to problem.
