I have Windows 7 64 bits installed on Asus G73JW. I cant safely remove any USB storage device. When I right click the icon on the bottom left corner on taskbar, it does nothing. But it works as it should on my Gateway desktop also Windows 7. I tested different USB drive and external HD. Same result.

Does this happen for all USB devices on that particular machine?

ayavskyo, check what programs are open. One might be using the drive.

How do I find out if the program is using it? The problem is not that it wont let me remove the drive. Problem is when I click on the icon, it wont do anything. Its like when you right click on the desktop but nothing shows up.

maybe you could try uninstalling your usb devices in device manager and then do a hardware detect afterwards. it should reinstall itself and hopefully resolve some device conflict.

Virus/malware free? Sounds like one we had at work - would not let you safely unplug it /access it. Turns out had a virus on the system. Cleaned up easily and worked fine after that.
