Hi I installed Windows 7 ultimate on a p4 desktop. For the life, of me i cant seem to update from ultra ata to sata drivers in Win7. I have a P4 2.6 running on a abit is7. I have tried changing the hard drive setting in the bios, from enhanced and auto. I have the latest firmware for my board. I have check the abit website and cant see to find any sata drivers for Windows 7. The only drivers for sata on abit board is for xp and win2000. Both my western digital 2tb black are reporting ultra instead of sata. Any suggestion? Thanks

    My setting in the Bios.

Under Integrated Peripherals -> OnChip IDE Device:
    IDE Bus Master - Enabled
    OnChip Serial ATA - enhanced
OnChip Serial ATA Mode - ide

    Simple.
That motherboard is sooo old it does not even have integrated SATA controller yet.
The SATA controller is listed on manufacturer's website (usually I'd let you google for it but here it is: Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia it's called Sil3112_Sil3114_Intel_VIA Installation Disk, means it has SIL3112 or SIL3114 SATA controller). Since those drivers are from 2004, it means you need to search Silicon Image's website for newer drivers if they ever made one.

You can access the SATA controller during computer startup, right after BIOS POST screen. There you can change whatever settings the manufacturer decided you can change. Probably not much :)
