Hay guys I currently have a acer aspire 3680 that I want to upgrade to windows 7, however I am having huge problems doing so.
I get this error in boot manager when booting from a DVD.

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

    File \windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
    status 0xc0000098

At first I thought it was the CD and decided to download and try other ISO's however the same issue arises, then I decided the laptop just wasn't compatible with windows 7, and tried installing Vista, however the same problem arises...
I have even tried wiping XP from the HDD, formatting the HDD, and then try installing windows 7/vista, however I still get this same error.

So what's the problem here, what am I doing wrong! :p very appreciate your help, been trying to fix this problem for months.

Install XP on the drive...while you are logged in run the setup from within XP.

Exactly. I was also having problems booting Windows 7 installation on an old laptop. Running the installation from Windows XP however fixed it.

It works, however I just get BSOD through the installation :(

    Edit*

I decided to try and put the windows 7 installation on a USB drive and boot from that, and it worked! I am so pleased! I have been wanting to install windows 7 since day one, however it just wouldn't allow me to boot it from disk, I could within windows XP, but it would BSOD during installation.
