Every time I try and open a jpg, its says the following:
"Cannot create file: phot.jpg. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in and then click properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder".
Any suggestions?

Open Regedit, and look for the following key:
OutlookSecureTempFolder.
Make note of the value, and find that folder on your HDD. Either it doesn't exist any longer, or you need to empty it. -
Where in the registry do I look for it?
I tried searching for it on my Hard Drive and it doesnt appear to exist. -
I dont seem to have the folder; where do I find "documents and settings" on win 7?
Am i suppossed to go into "App Data"?
Once I find the temp folder, I delete the whole thing? -
It's under C:\Users\%username\Appdata
Appdata is a hidden folder under Vista/7. You never mentioned your OS so I didn't know where your folder may have been.
Just delete the contents of the folder, not the folder itself, or you will get other types of errors since Outlook will be looking for that specific folder. -
The only folder I found in AppData was "Temp", under local.
Is that it?
I emptied that, closed and re-opened Outlook and, no change. -
What did the registry key tell you was the store folder?
It should be storing them under
C:\Users\ username \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\xxxxxxx
Did you read the link that I sent you completely? -
If you are in a domain/forest environment, your administrators could have, by policy, disabled the local viewing/saving of jpeg files.
-
Id di read th entire link; the problem is I cannot find a "Temporary Internet Files" folder anywhere.
Where else could it be? -
That's the only place it should be.
You can look in control panel -> Internet options -> Browsing History -> Settings, and see where the temporary internet files folder is being used. -
Ok, I found it there (for some reason, I cannot see it in the exact same place when I go through "my computer"-maybe its a hidden folder?)
Anyways, I deleted everything in it, shut down/restarted Outlook; same problem.
This is killing me cuz I cannot open any attachments...whats my next step? -
Ok, so let's clarify some info.
1. You looked in the registry for the OutlookSecureTempFolder key
2. The value for the key is a folder that exists on your HDD
3. You cleared out that specific folder, and not deleted the folder itself.
4. All attachments will not open in outlook, or is it just JPG's?
Cant open JPG's in Outlook
