    Hey all.

I own a PB Easynote TK. I was shutting down my laptop when my kitten walked across the keyboard. The laptop beeped a few times, the laptop wouldnt shut down then all of a sudden went off. I tried turning on the laptop and I get a message about needing to repair but it cant repair and then I get stuck on the "windows starting" screen but it wont get passed that.I cant seem to do anything, please help!

    Hi.

Remove the power cord, then remove the battery, then hold the power button down for 20 seconds, the put the battery back in and connect the power and see if it works.

Thanks for that. I waited at the starting windows screen for about 10-15 minutes and then the laptop started to work BUT it is incredibly slow and sticky and even simple things are taking me forever. I am trying to system restore to a time when the laptop was fine but I get a message saying "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive." I try to create a restore point but it wont let me, I just get an error message saying "the restore point could not be created for the following reasons: the creation of a shadow copy has timed out. Try this operation again. (0x81000101)". Please help!

that sounds more like a hard drive problem with a bad sector. is yours a spindle drive or a ssd.
it worked fine before your kitten walked across it. you sure it didnt have a little piddle at the same time :)
also as you have a kitten how often do you clean the fans and vents out with compressed air for dust and hair.

just to eliminate this from the problem i would download HD tune and run a sector scan. find it in my sig below.

Transfer all your data off your notebook and do a full recovery back to the day you bought your notebook, that can take a few hours for some models.

If that is the case, then a trick that sometimes gives you a short window of opportunity is the following: Remove the hard drive from the laptop, and put it in your fridge for about an hour or so. Then take it out, install it, and start the laptop. If it starts, immediately copy all of your original (=valuable) data off of the hard drive. You may only have a few minutes, so be prepared to get things done quickly. If you run out of time, you can try and repeat the exercise, but don't count on it. Good luck.
