you most likely installed your OS in E.. You can use partition magic to change drive letter e to c and vice versa.. after that you can distribute free spaces.. this will save you from reinstalling..

Dont even need partition magic you can just right click on My Computer and go to Manage. Then under disk managment you can change the drive letter. I think you will need to change the windowes default paths which can be found under Control Panal -> System -> Advanced -> Enviorment Variables. But it will cause problems. Most can be fixed by editing the registry but if you have extra programs installed in the Windows Partition it wont be great. Formating and reinstalling might be easier.

he would really need partition magic if he wants to distribute free spaces..

but reinstalling will be the best and safer...

What's wrong with the setup he has right now? It's not a bad idea to install your OS to a separate partition from your programs.

Erm, you're right about the point to install Windows on a seperate partition. But the problem he had/has is that his default root is E:/Windows.

Well...my advice is you can live with it. E: or C:. ;)

I actually managed to do the same once when I reformatted my computer... This is not really a problem since it's just a naming thing. There is nothing special about C:\ except for the fact that it's more commonly used.
